Allsvenskan 1st weekend round-up + Highlights

Both of the big games during the Allsvenskan 1st weekend ended in draws and Halmstad surprised Östersund with a 1-0 win.

IFK Göteborg 1-1 Malmö FF
The first game of the season was the Swedish El Clasico between IFK Göteborg and title favourites Malmö FF. IFK Göteborg is one of the best home teams in the league and they have a long undefeated streak going on. The streak has now continued during 3 seasons as the much anticipated opener finished 1-1. Mikael Boman opened the scoring after just 8 minutes but the new striker signing for Malmö FF Pawel Cibicki equalised still in the first half.

Halmstad 1-0 Östersunds
In the other match on Saturday, newly promoted Halmstad took a surprising 1-0 win over Östersunds FK who until this game had fail to lose a match during this year. Swedish U19 international Sead Haksabanovic scored his first even Allsvenskan goal to give Halmstad the win.

Haksabanovic great goal:

GIF Sundsvall 3-1 AFC Eskilstuna
GIF Sundsvall came back from 0-1 down to take an important win over rivals AFC Eskilstuna. Both teams are expected to struggle this season so an early win for Sundsvall against another relegation threatened team was a big boost for their survival.

AIK 0-0 Häcken
In a match between two title challengers, the points were shared with a 0-0 draw. AIK continued where they left of last season which was a good solid defense and yet again fail to score at home. One of the biggest reasons that AIK failed to win the title last season was their home form and especially the draws they played. Häcken has improved for this season and they will take a draw away from home against their direct rivals as a big boost for their self-confidence.

IFK Norrköping 2-1 Hammarby
Norrköping started their 2017 season with an expected home win against Hammarby. Norrköping is expected yet again to fight for Euro Cup places whereas Hammarby is expected to fight for mid-table places at best. Sebastian Andersson opened the scoring and Filip Dagerstål scored the second. Hammarby saw S. Martinsson-Ngouali get a red card on the 77th minute but Brazilian striker Romulo still managed to cut the deficit with a goal on the 90th minute.

Great Dagerstål goal:

There will be 3 matches Monday:

20:00 Djurgården v Sirius
20:00 Örebrö v Jönköpings Södra
